Brown & Mitchell, Inc. (BMI) was selected by the City of Gulfport to provide civil engineering and design services for the construction of a pier and fishing platform south of U.S. Highway 90 at Courthouse Road.

The pier extends 840 linear feet south of the existing jetty with a 70-foot T-platform for fishing.  The pier also provides covered areas with benches and is well-lit for nighttime fishing or strolling.  Construction of the pier consisted of 14-inch by 14-inch pre-stressed concrete piles with timber framing.  All conduits for electrical wiring were cast inside the piles.

This project benefits the general population of the area, as well as tourists, by providing access to coastal waters for recreational activities.
