Brown & Mitchell, Inc. (BMI) was selected by the City of Gulfport to provide professional engineering services that encompassed three different types of construction to repair damaged sewer lines in separate areas of the city. Project costs totaled approximately $3.5 million.
Construction methods included total removal and replacement of the sewer line, point repairs at the locations of the sewer lines that were experiencing disturbance of flow, and installation of a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) line. This CIPP method is used to install a felt-based epoxy liner inside an existing pipe with little disturbance on the surface. Manhole rehabilitation with a spray-on epoxy liner was also included in the scope of work. The liner re-established structural integrity and prevented further corrosion to existing sewer manholes. The sewer lines in need of repair were determined by cleaning and television inspection prior to design.
Scope of services included:
- Assistance with Loan Application Preparation
- Coordination of Video Inspection for Sewer Rehabilitation
- Civil Design
- Permit Coordination
- Development of Contract Documents, Specifications, and Construction Plans
- Construction Administration and Observation Services
