Brown & Mitchell, Inc. (BMI) was selected by The Gulfport-Biloxi Regional Airport Authority to provide professional engineering services for the Terminal Area Drainage and Subsurface Stormwater Detention Project.
This project included reconstructing a section of the 4-lane entrance drive to the Airport and installing a subsurface detention system that is capable of meeting current and future stormwater run-off storage needs for the Airport. This project also included installing over 3,500 linear feet of concrete drainage pipe through the terminal area ultimately discharging into the Turkey Creek drainage basin.
The subsurface detention system, consisting of Stormtech chambers, is capable of holding in excess of 100,000 cubic feet of stormwater run-off and provides excess run-off control to already stressed Turkey Creek Drainage Basin. The system allows the stormwater to recharge into the ground and it also removes sediment prior to release. The us of this method is a prime example of environmental Best Management Practices.
Scope of services include:
- Civil Design
- Surveying
- Developmental of Contract Documents, Specifications, and Construction Plans.
